Anyone see the new Rihanna vid, Man Down?
Anyone heard the recent controversy regarding the vid?
Too violent for tv or too violent period? I watched it. They say that the violence of her shooting a man down is difficult to watch. The video begins with her shooting a guy in the town square, so to speak. His head takes a bullet and blood splatters and he falls and dies in the street, bleeding out. Then the song begins and takes youthrough the day prior to the shooting. Her day was a good day till she got to the club and fends off the guy. He follows her out of the club and he rapes her in an alley. I believe that this video is more of a statement for the shit going down in an alley as opposed to the act of vengeance that takes place in the town in broad daylight in front of a crowd.
How is it that a country out cry over the violent shooting on a man in the square and then do not out cry over the rape of the girl outside the club? Why is one being stressed more than another?
How many women in the world does the rape happen to? How many go unreported and unavenged.
Vengeful, yes. Too shocking for tv as compared to criminal minds or what we view on CSI or NCIS? No. The song itself makes a statement of shooting a man down and the video makes a statement as to why? Her song or video isn't going to help or hinder this world; rather, it is a reflection of this world in which we live.
